OPES Workshop

In collaboration with ALDIC, TLF team member Nour Younes attended a workshop on Understanding Contracts in the Petroleum Sector organized by OPES in the context of the several workshops aiming at spreading awareness among civil society members with regards to the petroleum related activities taking place in Lebanon.
Indeed, the “Understanding Contracts” workshop shed light on the violations of several Lebanese Laws and international standards in the Petroleum sector through the contracts signed by the Lebanese government, as well as the non-implementation of petroleum related Decrees, such as Decree No. 9471 regarding the establishment of the Oil Registry in Lebanon and the consequences of such omission.
Attendees and speakers set forth steps to be taken in order to circumvent future violations and push forward the implementation of the relevant regulations.
